Outdoor Connections

Project Supported by Cheshire East Council

Our church’s outdoor spaces are more significant than ever as we emerge from isolation. Our Outdoor Connections project aims to inspire and support you in getting the most out of your churchyard – to reconnect with your community and at the same time enriching the environment.

It invites people from parishes across the diocese to a number of webinars, starting in May, giving training and encouragement on many aspects of using churchyards in this way, and linking them together in a forum for sharing ideas and experiences.

The webinars cover a variety of topics all of which are available to watch as a recording after registration

Webinar 1 – What’s so special about churchyards?

Webinar 2 Blooming and Beautiful – getting the balance right

Webinar 3 – The Five Steps to creating a management brief

Webinar 4 – Involving the community – part 1

Webinar 5 – Involving the community – part 2

Webinar 6 – Telling the story – how to design effective interpretation

In addition, the project will support any groups wanting to run activities over the summer that draw in people from the community around them (a family nature trail, a school experience linked to the National Curriculum, a bat evening, a small activity as part of Churches Count on Nature, an open church day or something else…)

Webinar recordings and resources for each meeting will be made available on a dedicated Online Forum for participants to access resources, replay webinars, enjoy discussions, and receive peer to peer support, all co-ordinated by an experienced Caring for God’s Acre staff member. This area will help replace that sense of togetherness that is slightly lost by having online webinars instead of in person workshops.

Register here to be part of this exciting opportunity and to access more information and booking links to the webinars and online forum.
Following registration, you will receive an email with a link to where you can choose and book the  webinars you want to attend – check your spam folder and contact [email protected] if this does not arrive.

We look forward to meeting you!
